Education
The MPA is supportive of efforts to promote music education for people of all ages, and particularly in schools. We recognise the importance of the study of music "for music’s sake" and the training for the mind provided by music as an academic discipline. Music education encourages creativity and innovation and can help to instill confidence in young people and improve their ability to communicate ideas.
The MPA is a member of the Music Education Council (MEC) and is a signatory to the Music Manifesto. We regularly provide advice on curriculum issues to Higher Education and Further Education institutions and field publisher speakers for lectures and other events.
The MPA has an Education and Training Group that meets regularly to discuss relevant issues. The MPA was a member and co-founder of the umbrella body British Music Rights - now UK Music - which is actively involved in a number of copyright education initiatives.
